A Day at the Races

Did you watch the Kentucky Derby this past weekend?

You might have seen me...

Well not actually me- but something I made. Which everyone knows is almost as good :)

My dear friend was invited to attend the Derby this year with her husband and a group of friends. So she commissioned me to make "the hat" and create some coordinating rosettes for the sash of her dress. I loved it!

Thinking you might need a fancy hat too? Here is what you need...

A BIG hat- the one we used was from Charming Charlie's.

Wide Sheer Ribbon for a Bow- I like the wire edged kind for this project, it's easier to shape.

Feathers and Flowers- The bigger, the better. I made the rosettes, but you could buy silk as well.

Attach everything to the hat using lots of hot glue and a few well-placed stitches. Then sit back and enjoy being fabulous!

Oh and be sure to swing by Centsational Girl's "Best of the Blogosphere" and Tatertots and Jello "Great Ideas- DIY Inspiration". I am so honored that my ruffled lamp shade was featured by both of those amazing bloggers.

To my new followers- Welcome! I am thrilled to have you join me on my crafty adventures :)
